“Rise With Him”
April 20, 2025 Bulletin Easter
“Easter 2020” (excerpt)
by Malcolm Guite
And where is Jesus, this strange Easter day?
Not lost in our locked churches, any more
Than he was sealed in that dark sepulcher.
The locks are loosed; the stone is rolled away,
And he is up and risen, long before,
Alive, at large, and making his strong way
Into the world he gave his life to save,
No need to seek him in his empty grave.
…
This poem was written during the COVID epidemic. The poet felt isolated, even from his church, where he could not worship in person or take communion. These words serve as a reminder that Christ is living and present, and his Spirit moves among us, wherever we are in the moment.
This Easter, know that you are never alone. You have this church, our beloved community. More than that, you have the love of God. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. And we rise, together, with him.
